Apple HUNT
Matt, Jonathan and I RACED up to LYMAN ORCHARDS for the Apple Hunt today.
Now officially 2 years in a row we were running VERY late, but still managed to make it on time to begin the hunt....
He had fun and we got some decent prizes, BUT we were in the car longer then at Orchard, because it was SOOO crowded. We decided that next year we will go to something else that is closer, especially since there will be TWO kids in tow!
I always liked the Apple Hunt since all the prizes and everything were candy free, but with so many people it is just a bit much!

scary appointment
I had a doctor appointment today, much like every Friday.... UGH!
I sat in the waiting room for 10 minutes PAST my appointment time, and when I was finally in, the doctor told me she was concerned that the baby would come WAAAAY too early.
SOOOO, they ran several tests on me, whispered and sent me back to the waiting room.
I called Matt, told him they did all kinds of tests and I was nervous, but before I could finish the call, the doctor brought me back in to do what is referred to as an Emergency Ultra-sound.
I was getting more and more scared with the questions that were asked of me.
Eventually I was told that I am already dilated 2 cm, AND having contractions, BUT my cervix was not thinning.... so after all that I was told not to worry, and sent home with warning to "take it easy"....

Green Boy
Even in a "home-school" the children are unpredictable!
During one of today's "lessons", we were working on colors (primary/secondary colors, mixing colors and which make which). While talking about making green, using yellow and blue, I took out the finger-paint to show Jonathan how to mix two colors to create a new color.
Jonathan had a BLAST!
This really did begin innocently! He had an itch on his head while we were mixing colors and when he went to scratch it I said "Oh No! You have paint on your hands..." Jonathan said "I'm all sticky." and continued to rub it all around his head. I am sure that my hysterical laughter added to the excitement, and kept him painting away, rather than stopping...

Napping Day
In honor of Napping Day, I read to Jonathan "The Napping House".
It is a hysterical story of a house where everyone naps, until a flea wakes them up. Jonathan is getting better at noticing and repeating rhyme...
It's a funny story, and we had a great time... I am so happy that I decided to start the home-school process! He seems to be learning so much and actually enjoying it!

Playing Drums....
Jonathan is definitely following in mommy's and daddy's footsteps....
Everyday, he asks to play the drums, and he is no longer satisfies with "just the Bongos"...
The best thing in the world is that he actually has rhythm, serious rhythm... He knows the name of every piece in the set, uses the sticks appropriately and creates a beat.
I can honestly say, we both thoroughly enjoy listening to him "play"...

Big Boy Bed
We have officially moved Jonathan to his toddler bed. Matt spent an hour putting it together, (maybe less).
And we both made a big HUGE deal about the responsibility of being in a bed and the rules associated with it.
It seemed that Jonathan totally understood and was super excited about it, but bedtime told another story. It wasn't terrible, but it took a LOT longer to put him to sleep, and NAP TIME....FORGET IT!

Johnny Appleseed
My mommy friends Jenn and Julie, came over for a play-date with their little ones Eric, Aidan and Avery.
In honor of my FAVORITE "Tall Tale Character", I planned a whole 'day' around Johnny Appleseed!
I read a short story about "Johnny Appleseed" to what was supposed to be an audience of three children, but ended up being two moms and four roaming playing children...
I did manage to grasp their attention long enough to create baked apple treats. I had hollowed out apples and we filled them with cinnamon, chocolate chips, peanut butter, butterscotch chips, brown sugar, raisins, cranberries, oatmeal and marshmallows! YUM!

new floor
For a birthday Matt bought a BEAUTIFUL new floor for our bedroom.
I was so excited to see it all in and new and clean, and the old ugly, dirty, stinky rug GONE!
Matt installed the whole thing himself, and did a pretty good job!
