3 Day Potty Training: DAY THREE

I got up today optimistic, fearful but optimistic.

Today would be hard, AND with Jonathan refusing to sleep AND Matt going to work it would be even harder!

We were off to a VERY good start! As soon as Jonathan woke up, he was DRY! AND he asked to use the potty!

I nearly cried!

I was still on eggshells however, thinking 'it just cannot be that easy'...

Well, it wasn't... we took a little break and went over to MeMa's in the monsoon, and after asking Jonathan and number of times, he peed all over MeMa's floor...The only difference is that he seemed, genuinely sorry for it.

And that was the last accident of the day, and Jonathan even asked a few times to use the potty, I mean before I had asked him.

Alas, the lack of consequences for his negative actions is exhausting! AND the fact that he is way too smart, and plays the "I have to Potty" game every-time he SHOULD be sleeping... UGH!

We did however end the day with only the ONE accident and countless successes...

Tomorrow will be a whole new ballgame... I have to babysit for another child all day AND I have to leave Jonathan with Pop-Pop while I tutor in the afternoon..

3 Day Potty Training: DAY TWO

I woke up exhausted and in no way shape or form was I getting an hour earlier then normal.

I was super excited to begin day two, Jonathan had ended day one on an optimistic note and I was eager to have the training allllll over...

Today however was another struggle, I do not know, nor does it seem anyone else does, why children fear pooping on the potty... I have since scowered the Internet, and NOTHING!

I was so close to giving up, he peed on the floor 4 times and seemed to care less. He even laughed and said "Daddy clean it up"... UGH and he refused to nap, instead he repeatedly called me to say "Mommy I have to go potty"... which was so frustrating because I was down right exhausted!

Come the end of 'regular scheduled' nap-time, Jonathan was accident free... And I was so tired!!!

Again we end on a happy note, 50% better than yesterday!

3 Day Potty Training: DAY ONE

Off to a VERY rocky start....

I woke Jonathan at the normal time, (despite the 'rules' stating I MUST wake him an hour early...yea, okay).

Together we (Jonathan and I), took all of his diapers and put them in the baby's crib (despite the fact that the 'rules' said throw them away...yea, okay). I took the 'rules' to really be saying diapers are no longer available, which would make, MY RULE of giving them to the new baby, MUCH more logical... Not only does he realize he has to be a big boy, and cannot wear diapers, but he also is reading himself to be a big brother!

Once the diapers were gone, Jonathan and I walked into the bathroom, where I showed him the potty and said to him "This is where bog boys pee, Jonathan is a big boy now... No more diapers, we are only using the potty." Jonathan looked really pleased and he seemed to be on board.

Jonathan proceeded to walk around the house in nothing but little underpants and a sweatshirt and Matt and I proceeded to pump him full of fluids.

Jonathan peed on the floor repeatedly, probably 8 times in a row BEFORE nap-time. The frustration was setting in, BIG TIME! Mostly because I could not be more than a six inches away to 'catch him in the act' and RUN him to the potty. The 'rules' say we are supposed to make Jonathan clean up the mess, but to Matt and I that sounds as useful as rubbing a dogs nose in it...And developmentally not an appropriate task, plus I do not want Jonathan to view this process as a punishment.

Finally after his nap, he woke up dry AND asked to use the potty! WAHOO!

For the rest of the night we occasionally asked and he complied, there were no more accidents! Jonathan was rewarded with SEVERAL cars, Mater the Greater, Tom the Offical, Crashed King and Winning Mqueen...

HE WAS SO PROUD OF HIMSELF...

WE'RE HAVING A

GIRL!

I am surprised and not all at the same time, if that makes sense.
Jonathan was convinced he was having a little brother, so he nearly had me convinced! I think that's why I was so surprised. But, at the same time I thought we are having a girl.
